Meet Roger
Roger is running to represent Lakewood’s Ward 3 in City Council!
Roger was born and raised in the Denver area, graduating from George Washington High School in 2003. He lives in Lakewood Ward 3, in the Belmar area, with his fiancé Michael. His mom, dad, sister, cousin and several nieces and nephews all live in Lakewood and Denver.
In 2021, Roger launched a nonprofit, the Colorado Equitable Economic Mobility Initiative (CEEMI), focused on expanding job-training and workforce programs with a strong track record of moving Colorado learners from poverty to good-paying jobs in high demand sectors. Read Roger’s Op-Ed in the Colorado Sun to learn more about some of that work.
Roger has spent most of his career working to bring people together to solve problems across multiple levels of government. He launched several programs, using an innovative model that makes spending public funding conditional on better results for people served. This included providing evidence-based prevention services for youth to reduce violent crime, and services in Jeffco Public Schools for teens in the foster care system shown by a rigorous evaluation to improve educational outcomes.
Roger also played a supporting role to design and launch the Community Economic Defense Project, which has provided rental assistance and eviction legal defense to over 30,000 Coloradans.
Roger loves running, hiking, skiing, going out to local restaurants and movies in Belmar, having coffee in the morning, and spending time with friends and family. He loves Lakewood and Colorado, and is excited about the opportunity, if elected, to represent Lakewood’s Ward 3.
